Creatures of the night, this one’s for you! When the clock slides past midnight and you’re in need of some fuel after a night of partying, the dilemma is: where can you find something to eat? Just because the hour is late, doesn’t mean good grub is hard to find. Thankfully, Hong Kong is a foodie haven, with lots of amazing late-night eateries.
So, if you’re out late and the stomach’s grumbling, rather than settling for McDonald’s, 7/11 or Tsui Wah, why not try something new? Read on to discover our favourite spots to grab a late-night bite.

Sun Hing Restaurant – Late night (or early morning) dim sum in Kennedy Town
Made for night owls, Sun Hing opens its doors every day at 3am and you can be sure it’ll be packed by 4am. Its popularity is rooted in the authentic dim sum it offers – keep an eye out for Sun Hing’s ‘lou sah baos’ (aka: the molten custard buns), everyone will rush for a plate the second it leaves the kitchen – and its easy-on-the-wallet prices. Our one gripe is that it doesn’t have a lot of veg options, but the meat-lovers will have a feast!
Opening Hours: Daily, 3am to 4pm
Sun Hing Restaurant, Shop C, G/F, 8 Smithfield Road, Kennedy Town, Western District, Hong Kong, 2816 0616

27 Kebab House – Central spot with doner, rice and chips open until 6am
While this Middle Eastern-Indian fusion restaurant has a few branches spotted around the city, the one you’ll find us gorging at in the early hours of the morning is the Central outlet. We occasionally pop in for its great-value lunch set (Chicken Doner Roll or Rice with a soft drink for $60 is a steal!), but post-drinks when you just want to munch, a plate of doner meat and chips, or a hummus bowl set really hits the spot. Plus, it’s so conveniently located! You can hop over in under five minutes from Frank’s.
Opening Hours: Daily, 10am to 6am
27 Kebab House, D-E, 27 Lugard Road, Central, Hong Kong, 2795 2727

Ebeneezer’s Kebabs & Pizzeria – Classic late-night kebab pitstop with locations all over Hong Kong
Speaking of kebabs, once upon a time, we’d stumble into the LKF branch at the end of the night, but these days Hong Kong nightlife is so spread out, we’ll settle for our closest location (and there are plenty to choose from – 17 to be exact). Ebeneezer’s has a pretty varied menu with pizzas, salads, curries and tandoori, but our Editorial team makes a beeline for the kebab wraps – whether it’s Halloumi Cheese, Chicken or Lamb – loaded with sauces from the squeezy bottles. Though admittedly, we sometimes go rogue and get an extra spicy Chicken Tikka Biryani and take it home for hangover food the next day…
Opening Hours: Varies depending on location, several close at 6am

Under Bridge Spicy Crab – A cult favourite with the best spicy crab in the city
Once an unassuming stall and now a major restaurant, Under Bridge Spicy Crab has been a firm favourite with Sassy families for years and one we keep coming back to. It has a full menu of delicious seafood to choose from, and while it can be tricky to decide what to go for, you really can’t go wrong with its signature Spicy Crab (you can adjust the heat level to suit your tastes). It used to be open until dawn, but now it winds down at 1am – still late enough to get some messy eating in before calling it a night!
Opening Hours: Daily, 11am to 1am
Under Bridge Spicy Crab, G/F & 1/F, Golden Jubilee House, 391 Lockhart Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, 2893 1289

Ichiran – Slurp down ramen all day and night (and very late at night)
There are few things as comforting as a piping hot bowl of Ichiran’s famous Tonkotsu Ramen when your head is a little muddled and tired and your feet are aching. Slide into a solo booth, customise your bowl to your exact specifications – from spice level (we usually go for six to eight ‘times’, but it’s not recommended if you don’t regularly have and enjoy spicy food!) to consistency, noodle thickness and toppings – and slurp away. Bear in mind, you’ll likely have to wait in a queue, sometimes even at super off-peak hours. But either way, kae-dama, anyone?
Opening Hours: Daily, 9am to 5am (4am for TST branch)
Ichiran, various locations across Hong Kong, en.ichiran.com

Burger Joys – Burgers, fries and milkshakes in Wan Chai
When talking about comfort food, we can’t gloss over burgers. It’s so sinfully good to tuck into a juicy patty at Burger Joys, whether it’s beef, chicken mushroom or fish. It really doesn’t hurt that this casual American diner-like spot also has a nice selection of fries, including Black Truffle (our favourite!), Sweet Potato and Cajun. And, if you’re not ready for the boozy part of the night to be over, we highly recommend getting a milkshake and adding a shot of Bailey’s or Kahlua to it for $32 – Cookies & Cream and Bailey’s might be a bit much as far as sweetness overload goes, but it pairs real well with Cajun chicken wings!
Opening Hours: Daily, 12:30pm to 2:30am
Burger Joys, Shop E, G/F, De Fenwick, 42-50 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, 6954 1262, Instagram: @burgerjoys

十八座狗仔粉 – Doggie’s Noodles, siu mai, fish balls and more, 24/7 in Central
Squashed between other restaurants and convenience stores, this street food spot is easy to miss – unless it’s past midnight and everyone in LKF has got the munchies, in which case you can’t not see the line outside. Technically the signature dish is the Doggie’s Noodles, but in our tipsy stupor, you’ll find us getting spicy deep fried siu mai and fish balls for takeaway, then immediately plopping down on the curb outside to scarf down our hot snacks. It has also just introduced a new ‘icy spicy’ squid dish, so you better believe we’re adding that to the order the next time we’re (carefully) making our way down the LKF slope.
Opening Hours: Open 24 hours daily
十八座狗仔粉, 20 D’Aguilar Street, Central, Hong Kong, 3565 6106

Lamenting the closure of Paisano’s Pizzeria in Hollywood Road? Never fear, Sonny’s got you! When the bar is winding down and you need a grease-fix, head over to this takeaway pizza shop for a slice of New York (or as close as we get here), some delicious garlic knots and maybe couple it with a cold beer for a nightcap too. Keep an eye on Sonny’s socials so you know when its next special collab night is, the last one had Mapo Tofu pizza and a slice with Truffle Prosciutto!
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Thursday, 12pm to 9:30pm; Friday, 12pm to 5am; Saturday, 4pm to 2am; Sunday, 12pm to 9pm; closed on Mondays
